U.S. National Arboretum

The National Capitol Columns is an arrangement of twenty-two Corinthian columns, which were a part of the United States Capitol from 1828 to 1958, placed amid 20 acres of open meadow, known as the Ellipse Meadow at the U.S. National Arboretum.

About

I've spent a lifetime with the history of American architecture in the background. So I've been motivated to photograph some of this historical architecture - interiors and gardens that go with them. The galleries, set up by the century they are most influenced by, are a collection of "Impressions" of the architectural components, interiors, and, when available, the gardens of these properties.

As my interior/architectural/design career unfolded, I started building on similarities to both past and present. Connecting the dots of influences and influencers helps to understand the arc of its design and evolution, following the design trajectory of one to the other. The more you get involved, the bigger the subject and its diverse parts.
